Pastel is a classic fine artists medium consisting of pure powdered pigment held together with a minimum of neutral colored binder. The pigment used to make pastels, whether in stick form or pastel pencil, are the same used to make fine art oil paints. In my paintings I use a mixture of handmade soft pastel and pastel pencils of the very best quality from the U.S., England and France. The pastel medium allows for brilliant color, with many layers and detail. The final result is incredibly vibrant and beautifully textured. All paintings are done on acid free fine art paper especially made for the pastel medium.
